ABOUT US

Freedom-2-Thrive, LLC & Eagle Log Cabins, LLC

Freedom-2-Thrive is a lifestyle philosophy and family-owned business serving residents of Northern Idaho, Eastern Washington, and Western Montana.

Designers Thomas Feller and Vivian Dantche offer fully assembled solid wood backyard structures destined to serve as she-sheds, the ultimate man cave, peaceful home offices, potting sheds, writing cabins, cottages, hunting cabins, sauna and spa sheds, off-grid cabins, mother-in-law tiny house ADU’s, tiny houses, treehouses, gazebos, pergolas, personal sanctuaries… and more.

If you can dream it… we can design it, mill it, build it, and deliver it to you — or choose from one of our existing award-winning designs.

Our lumber is milled from light and tight Norwegian Spruce—a wood species known for its tremendous strength despite its lighter weight. The fragrance wafting from this pine is heavenly and non-toxic, unlike the formaldehyde found in OSB and plywood used in competitive structures.

Our tree harvest is guided by the Seven Generations business model from Sustainable FSC Timbers. Three Norwegian Spruce trees are planted for every one tree harvested.

Our state-of-the-art milling operations are based on proven centuries-old techniques that allow us to design a variety of building styles—some of which have won prestigious awards in the United States.

More than a shed, cottage, and cabin company, Freedom-2-Thrive, LLC and sister company, Eagle Log Cabins, LLC, adhere to the sustainable paradigm, “For our children’s children.” Our mission is to provide life-affirming physical structures in which individuals and families can have the Freedom-2-Thrive!

Testimonials

A RELAXED ATMOSPHERE FOR MAXIMUM CONCENTRATION...

My Eagle log cabin is the perfect annex addition to my law office where it serves as a conference room and research center.   I love the quality woods and workmanship, which provide a relaxed atmosphere for maximum concentration.  Clients never fail to mention how much they love working with me in this stress-reducing zone. The space is also shared as an art studio with my wife and daughter who love the natural light streaming through the top-quality doors and windows. I look forward to adding another Eagle cabin in the near future.

-Bob

I CAN'T THINK OF A HEALTHIER SMALL SPACE IN WHICH TO WORK OR LIVE...

I had the opportunity to involve myself in the construction of one of these little structures. The fragrance of the raw wood was so delightful that we elected not to seal the interior, although it is recommended. I can’t think of a healthier small space in which to work or live than one of these sheds or cabins. It sure beats breathing the toxic formaldehyde that is outgasses from other types of construction! I am also a big fan of the tilt-turn windows, which makes it easy to keep them sparkling clean.

IT STILL LOOKS BRAND NEW AND IS STRUCTURALLY SOUND.

My name is Roger Lehet, and I am the inventor of the Kimberly™ wood stove and owner of Unforgettable Fire, LLC. I built my tiny house on wheels from an Eagle Log Cabin™ kit in a span of 30 days, mostly by myself, in the Seattle area.

Before I set off for my cross-country trip to Tennesse for my first of countless tiny house shows, I had pulled it exactly eight miles. Because I planned to pull it with a 1/2 ton Cadillac Escalade fitted with a 6.0-liter gas-powered engine, every decision that I made with designers, Thomas Feller and Vivian Dantche, concerned the weight and durability of the structure.

Every day that I was on the road this house went through the simultaneous equivalent of a hurricane and an earthquake. Quite literally, driving east through southern Illinois on I-64 is like a train slipping off the tracks and running only on railroad ties. Once, at 3:30 am, while driving through Atlanta, a truck tire mounted on a wheel was in my path and could not be avoidedI drove over it at 62 mph with my tiny house in tow.

Before I finally decided to put down roots in North Carolina, my tiny house racked up more than 22,000 miles. Yet, with all of those miles, my tiny house still looks brand new and is structurally sound. Therefore, I can personally attest and show proof that the structures designed and sold by Freedom-2-Thrive™ and Eagle Log Cabin™ are a wise investmentfully capable of looking beautiful while holding up under extreme and prolonged duress.

FAQ’s

Frequently Asked Questions

HOW ARE YOUR SHEDS & CABINS DIFFERENT FROM YOUR COMPETITORS?

Our sheds are made from solid Nordic Spruce and emit no toxic outgassing of formaldehyde that is common to OSB board or plywood. Instead of a toxic “new house smell” which is common to man-made materials, the fragrance is that of wood.

We promote sustainability through quality materials. Our trees are hand-selected from the Arctic Circle region, which produces a tighter grain through slow growth, much like a Stradivarius violin. Three trees are planted for each tree harvested. Our mill is a certified member of the Forest Stewardship Council and zero waste. For our Children’s children, we adhere to Seven Generations Thinking.

Our timbers are kiln-dried, pressure treated, then milled to high tolerances with an automated Swiss milling system to provide the lightest, strongest units possible. We wouldn’t have it any other way for ourselves. Why would we offer anything less to our clients?

DO YOU OFFER CUSTOM DESIGN OPTIONS?

Yes! Your dream is the cabin we wish to deliver to you… The total cost for design and engineering time will depend upon what your tastes require, but we are always happy to discuss your needs and wishes.

WHAT IS YOUR LEAD TIME FOR A CUSTOM DESIGN?

In today’s global uncertainty, it is best to give us as much lead time as possible. Please allow ample time for designing, engineering, milling, shipping, and construction. Currently, that would be a minimum of four months. Additional time would provide a cushion if Murphy’s Law raises its ugly head so that you are not disappointed by an unforeseen and out-of-control snag in your timeline.

CAN MY SHED OR CABIN BE WIRED FOR ELECTRICITY & PLUMBED?

Yes! Just as with any other solid wooden structure such as a log cabin, our sheds, cottages and cabins can also be wired for electricity and plumbed.

CAN MY SHED BE INSULATED?

Yes! Actually, solid wood is a very good insulator in itself. With that said, we do offer the option of a “Twin-Skin” with a double wall construction. This enables a pocket of air to insulate two log walls, a style that is popular in Siberia and other bitterly cold climates. We would be happy to discuss the particulars of this type of construction with you in detail according to the needs of your location.

HOW DO I SEAL & PROTECT MY SHED OR CABIN FROM THE ELEMENTS?

Our Nordic Spruce is treated in a pressurized chamber with borate, which helps to repel insects beyond the natural resistance that Mother Nature affords this tight grain species. To further protect your investment, we recommend the use of Perm-A-Chink brand sealant to protect your investment from rain, wind, sun, etc. Perm-A-Chink is a non-toxic formula, with little to no odor, and offers easy cleanup.
